An earthquake of magnitude 3.9 jolted Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra on Monday around 9:28 pm, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km. There are no immediate reports of any damage or casualties so far. In a post on X, NCS said, “EQ of M: 3.9, On: 18/08/2025 21:28:36 IST, Lat: 32.23 N, Long: 76.38 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.”

Social media buzzed with posts from netizens who shared their reactions and experiences. A user said, “In Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. My dog felt it harder than me! Stay safe, everyone.” Another user wrote, “Strong tremors in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.” A third user commented, “Epicenter was shallow about 10km deep, causing residents in Dharamsala & Kangra to feel light tremors. No reports of damage or injuries, just brief tremors felt by locals.”

Earlier today, an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 hit Nagaon in Assam. The tremors were felt at approximately 12:09 pm IST. The quake occurred at a depth of 35 km, the NCS said.
