Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024: Union Home Minister Amit Shah released the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Sankalp Patra (manifesto) in Ranchi on Sunday. Key Figures such as Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Sanjay Seth, and BJP Jharkhand president Babulal Marandi were present in the event.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier mentioned that the manifesto would outline 150 resolutions. During the launch, Babulal Marandi said much of the development work was done when BJP was in power. “The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has not done anything for the state. They have only focused on their interests and looted Jharkhand for 5 years,” he added.
In its ‘Sankalp Patra’, the BJP outlined 25 resolutions marking the state’s 25th year of formation. Notably, the key promises of the manifesto include 300 units of free electricity, Rs 2100 monthly assistance to women under the Gogo Didi Scheme, gas cylinders at Rs 500, and a monthly allowance of Rs 2,000 for unemployed graduates & postgraduates.
Key Promises Of The Manifesto:
- Government Jobs: 1.5 lakh jobs to be filled in the 1st year, 2.87 lakh in the next five years.
- Youth Employment: 5 lakh jobs for the youth in the next five years.
- Anti-Corruption Measures: Strict laws against examination paper leaks. CBI to inquire all past incidents.
- Land Rights: Unsurped Tribal to be retrieved.
- Women Empowerment: Registration of property up to Rs 50 lakh for just one rupee in women’s name.
- Agniveer Jobs: Government jobs guaranteed for Agniveers.
- Housing for the Poor: The government promises to provide a permanent house for all poor families within five years. This includes 21 lakh houses under PM Awas Yojana.
- Gas Cylinders: Gas cylinders at Rs 500. Two free gas cylinders during Diwali and Raksha Bandhan.
- Solar Energy: Connecting 1.25 crore homes to solar power.
- Free Dialysis: Free dialysis for kidney patients.
- Tribal Health: All tribal families under Ayushman Yojana will be covered.
- Monthly Allowance: Under the Gogo Didi Scheme, a cash allowance of Rs 2,100 per month.
- Competitive Exams: An annual calendar for competitive examinations.
- Rehabilitation Commission: Setting up a commission for the rehabilitation process.
- Memorials: Monuments in Jamshedpur for Birsa Munda and Dumka for Sidhu-Kanhu.
- Probe into Past Scams: SIT for the scams under previous government.
- Panchayat: A salary of Rs 5,000 per month for the head of Gram Panchayats.
- Anti-Cow Smuggling: A scheme to make Jharkhand free from cow smuggling
- Farmer Support: Paddy to be procured at Rs 3,100 per quintal and payment to be made within 48 hours.
- Rural Road Building: 25,000 km of rural road building under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana
- Education Loans: Interest-free loan up to Rs 10 lakh for higher education.
- PESA Act: Full-fledged implementation of the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act.
- Pilgrimage Circuit: Development of a religious circuit connecting five goddess temples.
- Eco-Tourism Hub: Making Jharkhand the number one leader in eco-tourism.
- Language: Inculcation of regional Jharkhand languages in educational institutions and the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
Election Schedule
The polls for 81 constituencies of the Jharkhand Assembly are scheduled to be held on November 13 and November 20 in two phases. Meanwhile, the counting of votes will take place on November 23. In the last assembly election, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) won 30 seats, while BJP won 25 seats and Congress took 16 seats.
