New Delhi: The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday reserved its orders on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s plea seeking stay on conviction in 2019 ‘Modi surname’ defamation case.

Justice Hemant Prachchhak to pronounce the verdict after vacations. Meanwhile, the court refused to grant any interim relief to Rahul Gandhi until then.

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was expelled from the Lok Sabha after he was convicted in the defamation case by a Surat court in March this year. The court awarded 2 years of imprisonment to Gandhi, who later got a bail.

Following his exit from the Lok Sabha, Gandhi had to empty the government allocated official residence at the 12 Tughlaq Lane in the national capital.
