A 19-year-old man lost his life, and his friend, age 17, was injured when an outdoor unit of the air conditioner fell from the third floor of a building in Karol Bagh area, Delhi on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred at around 7 pm in the Doriwalan area. Officials said that Jitesh, the deceased, was sitting on a scooter and was chatting with his friend Pranshu when the air conditioner fell on them. The injuries from the accident proved very serious for both persons.
A CCTV video of the incident went viral on social media, showing the exact moment when the AC fell on the two friends. The impact was such that Jitesh died on the spot while Pranshu was taken to the hospital for treatment. Pranshu is still undergoing treatment and has not been able to give his statement yet.

Police Probe AC Fall in Karol Bagh
The police arrived at the Desh Bandhu Road police station and got the report of the accident. On reaching the hospital, they found Jitesh was declared dead and Pranshu was admitted for his injuries. An FIR has been registered under section 125 for endangering life or safety and 106 for causing death by negligence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
A forensic team was called to establish why the air conditioner had fallen. Police are still investigating events that led to the fall and will do everything possible to hold accountable all those responsible for the accident.
