Haryana: Haryana Government on Thursday informed that a total of 176 people have been arrested and 78 preventive detentions have been made to date, in relation to the communal clashes that erupted in the state.
Addressing the media, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Haryana Govt, TVSN Prasad claimed that nearly 93 FIRs have been registered in five districts while 46 FIRs have been registered in Nuh.
“Additionally, three FIRs have been registered in Faridabad and 23 FIRs have been registered in Gurugram,” Prasad said.
“Furthermore, 176 people have been arrested as of now and 78 preventive detentions have been made by the police,” he said.
Prasad asserted that the national interest is paramount for us and peace should be maintained.
Haryana Violence
On July 31, the violence broke out during a religious procession in Nuh, situated just 50 km from Delhi, following the circulation of an objectionable viral video. As the mob attacked the procession with stones, over 2,500 participants sought refuge in a temple.
On August 1, rioting occurred in Badshahpur, located 50 km from Nuh. A mob of approximately 200 people armed with sticks and stones vandalized several shops, including meat shops, and set fire to an eatery while chanting religious slogans. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The aftermath of yesterday’s 18-hour communal clash in Nuh, Haryana, which resulted in five fatalities and left over 70 people injured, has reached Sector 70 in Gurugram. A shop and shanties adjacent to a residential complex were set on fire.
Gurgaon ACP Crime Varun Kumar Dahiya urged people to contact helpline no. 112 in case of any violence and warned against believing rumors. He assured that vehicular movement is not restricted, and the internet is functioning.
