15-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Hit By Toy Train In Darjeeling While Wearing Earphones

Roshni was taken to hospital for treatment on March 31 in the afternoon, but she succumbed to her injuries, an official said.

In a tragic incident, a 15-year-old girl lost her life after being hit by a toy train of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) at Kurseong on April 1 in West Bengal.

The girl had earphones on 

As per PTI reports, the girl had earphones on and she did not hear the train’s whistle. She came out from a passage on the tracks and the unfortunate incident took place. The deceased has been identified as Roshni Rai.

The girl was admitted to Hospital

Roshni was taken to hospital for treatment on March 31 in the afternoon, but she succumbed to her injuries, an official said. Roshni was accompanied by her elder sister at the time of the incident, who sustained minor injuries in the Kurseong Bazar area. 

Eight killed, including minors, in South 24 Parganas 

In a separate incident, A massive fire at a firecracker factory and godown in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district claimed the lives of eight members of a family, including four children, after the blaze spread to their nearby house, police said on Tuesday.

According to officials, a case has been registered against the owners of the factory.

Seven members died on the spot

Police said that the fire broke out at the factory in Parthapratim Dholahat area at 8.30 pm on Monday, before spreading to an adjacent house. While seven members of the family died on the spot, one more succumbed to injuries later in the hospital.

“Prima facie, it appears to be an accident. The fire started at 8:30 PM due to an explosion, leading to the deaths of seven people, including four children, three women, and one man. Another woman, who was injured, was taken for treatment but later succumbed to her injuries,” Assistant Director General of Police (ADG) South Bengal Supratim Sarkar told reporters on Tuesday.
