Wrestlers Protest: Farmers trying to enter Delhi stopped at Ghazipur border

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Sunday stopped farmers led by Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait at the Ghazipur border when they tried to enter Delhi to particpate in a protest held by wrestlers outside the new Parliament building.

However, the wrestlers were not given permission for the protest. “All others (farmers) have been stopped (by the police). We will sit here for now and decide what to do next,” said Tikait.

Meanwhile, all the wrestlers were detained in the day as they tried to head towards the new Parliament building, which was having its inauguration ceremony today.

The wrestlers were holding a sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar for over a month against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

The grapplers made sexual assault charges against the BJP MP and demanded his arrest.
