13 Killed, Many Injured As Bus Crashes Into Truck In Karnataka’s Haveri

A mini-bus crash killed 13 and critically injured 2. The victims from Shivamogga were returning from a pilgrimage.

Haveri: At least 13 people lost their lives and two others were critically injured when a mini-bus collided with a stationary truck in Byadagi Taluk, located in Karnataka’s Haveri district, early on Friday.

According to a reports, the victims were residents of Shivamogga and were returning from Savadatti in Belagavi district, where they had gone on a pilgrimage to pay homage to Goddess Yallamma.

The injured individuals were taken to a hospital, where their condition was reported to be serious, police informed

According to a report, the collision was so severe that the bodies were trapped in the mangled remains of the bus. Fire brigade and police personnel faced significant challenges in extricating them.

Among the deceased are Parasuram (45), Bhagya (40), Nagesh (50), Vishalakshi (40), Manasa (24), Rupa (40), and Manjula (50). The identities of the remaining victims are yet to be confirmed.

Officials stated that the accident occurred because the bus driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel.
