In a surprising turn of events, an 11-year-old boy from Pilibhit took center stage in the Supreme Court during the hearing of a special leave petition, asserting that the murder case concerning his apparent demise was entirely false. The boy alleged that his own father had falsely implicated his grandfather and uncles in the case. The Supreme Court, upon accepting the petition, issued a directive preventing any coercive actions against the accused until further notice and issued notices to the UP government and local law enforcement.
The child, represented by counsel Kuldeep Jauhari, disclosed a troubling sequence of events leading up to his appearance in court. Since February 2013, the boy had been living with his maternal grandfather, a farmer, following his mother’s tragic death in March 2013. The mother had succumbed to injuries inflicted by the boy’s father, who allegedly sought additional dowry from her family.

The legal battle intensified when the son-in-law demanded custody of the child. Earlier this year, he accused the grandfather and his four sons of the boy’s murder, resulting in a police FIR under serious charges. Despite their attempts to quash the FIR in the Allahabad High Court, the petition was dismissed, prompting their appearance in the Supreme Court with the boy as living evidence.
The case is set to be further examined in January next year, unraveling a complex web of family disputes and legal intricacies.
