Goa Fire: At least 25 people were killed after a massive fire broke out at a nightclub in North Goa’s Birch by Romeo Lane late on Saturday night. The popular party venue at Arpora village, which opened last year, had around 100 people on the dance floor when the blaze erupted. In an attempt to escape, some ran downstairs towards the kitchen on the ground floor, where they got trapped with other staff, according to an eyewitness

The nightclub was jam-packed since it was a weekend. “There was a sudden commotion as the flames started erupting. We rushed out of the club only to see that the entire structure was up in flames,” Fatima Shaikh from Hyderabad, told news agency PTI. Many managed to run out of the nightclub, she added.
Goa CM orders probe
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday ordered a thorough inquiry into the deadly tragedy. He said that a preliminary inquiry has indicated that the blaze erupted on the first floor of the nightclub, and due to congestion and small doors, the people could not move out.
“I am closely reviewing the situation arising from the tragic fire incident at Arpora, in which 25 people have lost their lives and 6 have been injured. All six injured persons are in a stable condition and are receiving the best medical care.
