In 2018, Rahim received a death sentence according to Saudi Arabian law due to the incident. However, through persistent efforts, the boy's family was informed that Rahim could be pardoned if Rs 34 crore was paid as 'blood money'.
Rahim extended his thanks to both the public and the legal committee for their unwavering dedication, labeling the endeavor as the "Real Kerala Story." Simultaneously, the Legal Action Committee declared an end to fundraising activities, affirming that the set goal had been achieved and no additional donations would be sought.
