Health benefits of blue turmeric

Several studies suggest that blue turmeric is rich in antioxidants and has antibacterial properties. It contains compounds such as camphor, ar-turmerone, and other essential oils. Elements such as camphor and ar-turmerone protect the body against various illnesses.

It has anti-cancer properties due to a high concentration of curcumin. Experts say that it should be used with caution, after taking medical advice, and should not be used for medical treatment. Additionally, it offers relief from joint pain and arthritis.

Where is blue turmeric grown?

Blue turmeric, also known as Curcuma caesia, has a brown outer surface and has a strong, camphor-like aroma. It is cultivated mostly in Northeast India, Kerala’s Wayanad, and parts of Madhya Pradesh. Due to its rarity, it is more expensive than the common yellow turmeric.
