Zubeen Garg, a celebrated singer, passed away in an accident while he was scuba diving in Singapore. The news of his sudden death was confirmed by a representative of the North East India Festival in Singapore. As his loved ones and fans are mourning his sudden demise, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been overseeing the process of bringing the singer's mortal remains back.
He shared that Zubeen Garg's postmortem has been completed in Singapore, and his mortal remains will be handed over soon. The post read, "The post-mortem of our beloved Zubeen Garg has been completed in Singapore. His mortal remains are now being handed over to the accompanying team — Shri Shekar Jothi Goswami, Shri Sandeepan Garg, and Shri Siddharth Sharma (Manager) — in the presence of officers from the Indian Embassy."

The news of Zubeen's death was confirmed by a representative of the North East India Festival in Singapore. While speaking to NDTV, Anuj Kumar Boruah, the representative of North East India Festival, said, “It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Zubeen Garg’s passing. While scuba diving, he experienced breathing difficulties and was immediately given CPR before being rushed to Singapore General Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was declared deceased in the ICU around 2.30 pm IST.”

Zubeen started his career as a professional singer in 1992 and released his debut album ‘Anamika’. He later recorded his first songs, ‘Tumi Junu Pariba Hun’ and ‘Tumi Junaki Hubakh’ in 1993. He released his first bihu album, Ujan Piriti, before moving to Mumbai in 1995. He got his big break through with the song ‘Ya Ali’ from the movie ‘Gangster’ in 2006.
