Zubeen Garg, a celebrated singer, passed away in an accident while he was scuba diving in Singapore. The news of his sudden death was confirmed by a representative of the North East India Festival in Singapore. His well-wishers have expressed their grief and condolences after hearing about his sudden demise.
Singer Papon expressed his shock after learning about the sudden death of Zubeen Garg. He wrote, “This is so shocking! The voice of a generation! Gone too soon. At a loss of words! Lost a friend. Lost a brother. A big void. Praying for a peaceful journey of his soul.”
Armaan Mallik wrote, “Doesn’t feel real. Devastated. Such a big loss to our music world. May Zubeen da’s soul rest in peace.”

Music composer Pritam shared in a statement, “Zubeen Garg, losing his life in an accident is just the most terrible and saddest news. Still trying to come to terms with it. My deepest condolences to Garima and his family. Om Shanti.”
Actor Adil Hussain also expressed his grief and wrote, “Devastated and shocked by the news of Zubeen Garg’s sudden death in an accident in Singapore. I am so very sad… His contribution to Assamese music and culture is extraordinary… He will live amongst us through his songs… Dear Zubeen I remember you with lots love and fondness.. May his singing soul rest in peace and God bless his soul… Good bye Zubeen.. Until we meet on the other side… Keep singing with your beautiful Voice and make Gods Happy.”

While speaking to NDTV, Anuj Kumar Boruah, the representative of North East India Festival, said, “It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Zubeen Garg’s passing. While scuba diving, he experienced breathing difficulties and was immediately given CPR before being rushed to Singapore General Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was declared deceased in the ICU around 2.30 pm IST.”
Zubeen started his career as a professional singer in 1992 and released his debut album ‘Anamika’. He later recorded his first songs, ‘Tumi Junu Pariba Hun’ and ‘Tumi Junaki Hubakh’ in 1993. He released his first bihu album, Ujan Piriti, before moving to Mumbai in 1995. He got his big break through with the song ‘Ya Ali’ from the movie ‘Gangster’ in 2006.
