In a historic moment for Indian comedy, Zakir Khan became the first comedian to perform a Hindi language show at the iconic Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York City. The landmark performance is part of his ongoing North America tour. He was joined on stage by comedian Tanmay Bhat.
Ahead of the performance, the poster of Khan’s show lit up Times Square billboards, and he appeared on U.S. media outlets, including an interview with Fox 5 New York and a fun cooking session with celebrity chef Vikas Khanna.
Reflecting on the achievement, Khan said, “Madison Square Garden was never part of the plan – it always seemed like a place for movie scenes and big stars, not for city boys like me. But sometimes, life takes you beyond your dreams.” He further added, “This show is not about any big achievement – it’s just a reminder that if you stay true to your journey, even the quietest voice can make it to the loudest stage. The opportunity to represent India on such a global platform and bring my vision of comedy to this part of the world is both gratifying and a huge burden, a dream I’m dying to live.”

His tour includes stops in Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Lauderhill, Phoenix, and Canadian cities like Toronto and Montreal.
He is known for his great comic timing and simple style. In his videos, he often presents himself as a ‘Sakht Launda’, someone who is tough but relatable. His comedy show Comicstaan on Prime Video is very popular, and he has also played the lead role in web series like Chacha Vidhayak Hain Hamare. He has performed on many famous stages around the world. In 2023, he made history by becoming the first Asian comedian to do a solo show at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Khan also hosts one of India’s most streamed podcasts, “Umeed”, and has five popular specials on Amazon Prime Video, including Haq Se Single and his latest, Delulu Express.
