Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, that iconic 2013 film, totally stole our hearts with its beautiful take on friendship and love. And let’s be honest, the undeniable chemistry between Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone was pure magic! The film’s narrative, which follows four friends on a life-changing journey, struck a chord with viewers, making it a memorable cinematic experience.
Given its cult following, the film was re-released in theaters on January 3, 2025 and the response was phenomenal, mirroring its initial release. According to Sacnilk, a website tracking box office numbers, the film collected approximately Rs 1.25 crore on its opening day, despite being released on limited screens. It sold around 65,000 tickets on the first day alone. However, given the phenomenal response, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani might get more screens in the coming days.
Considering the response, it’s likely that the numbers will increase, and the film will perform better in the coming days. By the end of week one, it’s expected to cross the Rs crore mark. This is one of the biggest openings for any re-released movie. The only other film to match or top Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’s first-day collection is Soham Shah’s Tumbbad, which was re-released in September.

Produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Ayan Mukherjee, the film also stars Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur in lead roles. Over the years, it has become a comfort watch for many and is still considered one of the most entertaining movies of Ranbir and Deepika.
Ahead of the film’s re-release, Kalki Koechlin released a video inviting viewers to come and enjoy the reunion once again in theaters, reminiscent of a scene from the film where she invites Ranbir Kapoor to her wedding.
