Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins ends with a cliffhanger, leaving fans wondering if there will be a sequel. Kunal Kapoor who played Vikram Patel has addressed the the sequel buzz in an exclusive with News18 and said he isn’t sure if a second part is confirmed, but he feels the story could easily continue.
While speaking to News18, Kunal shared his thoughts on the potential follow up “I’m not sure if the sequel is in the works. But everybody thinks it would be fun to have a sequel. It is the kind of story that lends itself to a sequel. There are a lot of interesting character dynamics that haven’t been explored in this part, which another part would give you a chance to explore. But I’m not sure what’s going on.”
He further added that he enjoyed working on the film and praised the team. He shared that the directors were fun to work with and he’s known producer Siddharth Anand for years,“What makes a film fun or not fun is the kind of people you’re shooting with. The directors are people I’ve known, they’re cool. The producer, Sid (Siddharth Anand), is somebody I’ve already worked with. I’ve known him for many years. Saif is a really cool guy. Jaideep, Nikita, and everyone in the unit got along quite well.”
Kunal, often seen in brooding, poetic roles, relished the chance to try something new, he adds “The other thing is the opportunity to do something you’ve never done before. Usually, I’ve been cast as the poet and the philosopher. This was the first time I was cast as somebody who speaks less and does more action. It was fun to do a part different from anything I’ve done before.”
Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins is a 2025 heist action thriller film directed by Kookie Gulati and Robbie Grewal, starring Saif Ali Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Nikita Dutta and Kunal Kapoor. The film was premiered on Netflix on 25 April 2025.
Meanwhile on the work front Kunal will be seen as Lord Indra in the film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and starring Ranbir Kapoor.
