New Delhi: Remember the infamous Oscars night when Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock? It was an incident that shook Will Smith’s career to an extent. The actor was heavily criticised for his impulsive gesture at the Oscars earlier this year.
Well, recently Will Smith appeared on Trevor Noah’s Daily Show and spoke about the infamous incident. He talked about his life post the slap incident and recalled what led to it.
The King Richard actor said, “Yeah, that was a horrific night as you can imagine. You know, there’s many nuances and, and complexities to it.” Smith further added, “but at the end of the day, I just lost it.”
The actor also opened up on what triggered the slap incident. Will Smith said, “It was a lot of things. It was the little boy that watched his father beat up his mother, you know? All of that just bubbled up in that moment. That’s not who I want to be.” The actor further noted how he understands why people were shocked due to his actions and added, “I understand how shocking that was for people. I was gone. That was a rage that had been bottled for a really long time.” The Emancipation star also pleaded empathy noting that he’s learned how “you just never know what somebody’s going through.”
