Will KPop Demon Hunters Return For Season 2? Here’s What We Know So Far

After storming global charts and winning hearts with its K-pop-meets-demon-hunting fantasy, Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters has fans begging for a sequel.

KPop Demon Hunters was released on Netflix on June 20, 2025 and since then it has exploded into a global phenomenon. The animated fantasy film reached the No. 1 spot in 93 countries and got over 56 million views. With a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes and fans now have one question: Will there be a sequel?

The film is about a K-pop girl group called Huntrix with three members Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. And secretly, they’re demon hunters protecting Earth. They go up against a rival boy band, the Saja Boys, who are actually demons trying to steal their fans souls.

The ending leaves many questions unanswered especially after Jinu (voiced by Ahn Hyo Seop), a demon who becomes their ally, sacrifices himself to save Rumi. During a concert, it’s revealed that Rumi is half-demon, which comes as a big shock. This twist has made fans even more eager for a sequel, and many are asking for a second film on social media.

In a recent interview with Variety, co-director Maggie Kang confirmed that there’s more story to tell, “We’ve set up so much for potential backstory. There are a lot of questions left unanswered and areas that are not explored, and we had to do that because there’s only so much movie you could tell in 85 minutes.”

She added that the team had already developed deeper plotlines and was hoping to explore them in future installments. “This was Rumi’s story, and we have backstories for Zoey and Mira, ones that we actually put in the movie, but it just kind of rejected it. It just wasn’t the movie for those stories,” Kang continued. Meanwhile, the voice cast of Cho, Hong and Yoo are also onboard for a second season. “I’ve already told Maggie [Kang] and Chris [Appelhans] that there has to be a follow-up,” Yoo said during an interview in June 2025. “I would totally do it again. I’ll be honest, a little bummed if we can’t do a sequel.”

Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, and produced by Sony Pictures Animation, the film features a star-studded lineup of Asian and Korean-American voice talent:

  • Arden Cho as Rumi – the leader who’s confident and keep the group together.
  • May Hong as Mira –  the tough, tomboy of the group and also its powerhouse.
  • Ji-Young Yoo as Zoey – the vivacious, bubbly rapper with a sharp tongue.
  • Ahn Hyo-Seop as Jinu – the leader of Saja Boys, who’s dangerously charming.
  • Ken Jeong as Bobby – the over-the-top manager.

Additional voices include Byung-Hun Lee, Yunjin Kim, Daniel Dae Kim, Joel Kim Booster, Liza Koshy, and more.
