Comedian Tanmay Bhat’s X (formerly Twitter) account was hacked last night, with attackers using it to promote meme coins. The hackers posted messages about launching a cryptocurrency, linking it to the Solana blockchain. The fraudulent posts, now deleted, created confusion among his 6.6 million followers.
What Did The Hackers Post?
In a now-deleted tweet, the hackers wrote, “I love memes and Solana so I figured it was time for me to drop my own coin.” They also claimed that Tanmay would use his YouTube revenue to support the coin, making it seem like a legitimate launch.

The hack took place at 8:22 PM, and soon after, Tanmay took to Instagram to alert his followers.
Tanmay Bhat’s Warning To Fans
After realising his account had been compromised, Tanmay quickly issued a warning on his Instagram Story. He wrote, “My Twitter has been hacked. Please don’t click on any links. Working to fix it.”

His swift response helped prevent potential scams, as hackers often use such tactics to steal personal information or funds.
By the time Tanmay regained access, all suspicious posts had been removed. His last real tweet was on January 26, where he praised Disney+ Hotstar’s coverage of a Coldplay concert.
His X profile also features a pinned post of a dog using a laptop, with a humorous caption: “Please imagine this photo whenever you don’t like something I tweet, it might make you less angry.”
What Are Meme Coins?
For context, meme coins are cryptocurrencies based on internet jokes, memes, or pop culture. Unlike regular digital currencies, they often start as fun projects with little real value. However, some, like Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB), have gained huge popularity due to viral trends and celebrity endorsements.
