New Delhi: Azamgarh, a feature film by director Kamlesh K. Mishra, is based on certain actual terrorism-related incidents. Pankaj Tripathi is dressed as a Maulvi in the movie's posters. The actor will appear in this movie in a cameo as a Maulvi who guides young people into terrorism. Now it is known that Pankaj Tripathi became upset when he learned that this movie was being released and that his name was being exploited to advertise it. Now, the actor wants to sue the film's producers. Five years prior, he had a brief cameo appearance in this short film. It was unable to release on schedule, though.

Why is Pankaj Tripathi taking legal action?

Azamgarh's release was unknown to Pankaj Tripathi. He first became aware of the movie's OTT release when he began to notice movie hoardings posted everywhere. This occurs as Pankaj is working on Oh My God 2, one of the most important movies of his career. If the actor's name is connected to a movie like Azamgarh, it would be detrimental to his reputation. Sources claim that Pankaj Tripathi was informed that this was a short film and just required three days of filming. But, the movie's creators are now promoting it using his name as though he plays the lead. 'Cheap popularity,' according to sources, is not what Pankaj wants. The actor even contributed to this movie without receiving any payment. According to Pankaj Tripathi, he doesn't want the film's creators to use his name to promote Azamgarh. He will sue them if they refuse to accept his terms. The actor claims that because his face is prominently displayed in the poster even though he only has a minor part in the movie, it is incorrect.

About Azamgarh

Kamlesh Mishra's first major motion picture is titled Azamgarh. It had already been chosen for three significant US film festivals. Moreover, the director's documentary Madhubani: The Station of Colors received a National Film Award. Azamgarh made it to the finals of the Seattle Film Festival and was also recognised as a semi-finalist at the DC South Asian Film Festival. Azamgarh will debut on Mask TV's OTT service. Sanjay Bhatt, the OTT Creative Head of Mask TV, claimed that the film's creators intended to demonstrate that not every resident of Azamgarh is a terrorist. The 90-minute film's plot spans the years 2001 to 2008 when major terrorist strikes shook India, America, and Europe. Azamgarh, which was produced in 2018, was unable to be seen in theatres sooner because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Anuj Sharma, a young actor making his acting debut, plays a young lad in the movie who, although having a good education, gets involved in terrorist operations.
