Bigg Boss is one of the most popular reality shows on Indian TV. While the Hindi version hosted by Salman Khan gets huge attention, regional editions like Bigg Boss Kannada, hosted by Kichcha Sudeep, are also very popular. However, shocking news has emerged that Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 may have to be halted mid season.
The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has ordered the immediate closure of the show’s studio in Bidadi, Bengaluru South, citing serious violations of environmental regulations.
In a notice dated October 6, the Board directed Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited (Jolly Wood Studios & Adventures) to halt all activities at the site immediately. The official communication read, “The said premises are being used for large-scale entertainment and studio operations without obtaining the required Consent for establishment and Consent for Operation under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.”

The notice added, “In view of the violations observed, you are hereby directed to close down the operations with immediate effect and to furnish an explanation to this office within the stipulated period.”
Copies of the closure notice have also been issued to the Deputy Commissioner of Ramanagara District, the Managing Director of BESCOM, and senior Electrical Engineers in Ramanagara Taluk, urging them to assist in the enforcement of the directive.
Details of the Violation
According to a report by NDTV, inspectors discovered that untreated wastewater from the premises was being discharged outside the site, causing environmental contamination. While the production team claimed to have installed a 250 KLD-capacity Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), officials found that the facility was non-functional, with no proper internal drainage system, and STP units lying idle and uncommissioned.
The inspection also revealed poor waste management practices, with wastewater being released openly without treatment, posing a serious threat to the surrounding ecosystem.
