Actor Helen Nelson, popularly known as Oviya, has been facing trouble ever since a private and intimate video allegedly featuring her has gone viral on internet. In the clip, the woman has a tattoo similar to the one that of Oviya, and that has led to speculations among her fans and followers. Though the actor has not released any official statement addressing the video, she reacted to the harassment coming her way following the issue.
In a new development, the actor has now filed an FIR with the Chennai Police Commissioner, as reported by News18. When the media outlet tried contacting her manager, he replied, “It is a morphed video made by someone who wanted to tarnish the name of Oviya. She has taken the matter to the police commissioner and will take necessary legal action against the culprit.”
The manager also touched upon the question about the accused, and said, “It is a sensitive issue. So, I can’t reveal such details”. Oviya could not be contacted as she is “currently unwell and cannot be contacted,” the manager informed News18.
Who is Oviya?
Oviya is a Tamil and Malayalam actor, who made her debut in 2007 with the film Kangaroo. However, it was director Sarkunam’s rural romantic comedy film Kalavani, which brought Oviya the stardom she was looking for. The project was also Oviya’s debut in the Tamil industry. Post that, she went on to star is several projects including Manmadan Ambu, Kirataka, Marina, Moodar Koodam, Mr Mommaga among many others. Over the years, Oviya carved a niche in the Telugu and Kannada film industry as well.
Besides working in films, the actor also participated in several reality TV shows and her most popular stint was in Bigg Boss (tamil) Season 1. Hosted by veteran actor Kamal Haasan, the show made her a house hold name within no time. Oviya was loved for her unfiltered behaviour and no-nonsense attitude. She never shied in expressing her emotions and being raw on camera.
However, things got ugly when she fell in love with a fellow contestant Arav, who did not reciprocate her feelings. Oviya had to leave the show in between due to health issues following an argument with Arav. She even tried to hurt herself by jumping into the swimming pool. She requested makers to be considerate of the situation and let her leave the house to focus on her mental health. A heartbroken Oviya went on with her life after the show.

As the video went viral on social media, several fans of Oviya came out in support of the actor. They also slammed the people for being inhumane and re-sharing the clip, thereby disgracing a woman. “It’s important that we stand with Oviya and respect her privacy during this difficult time. This shouldn’t happen to anyone,” commented one user. While another wrote, “Let’s support “Oviya” by protecting her privacy and being mindful online.”
