In an interview with The Sun, Kate shared that Liam seemed to be in a affirmative state of mind before his death. She addressed him as “my best friend, the love of my life”, admitting she never imagined he would die at such early age.
“Love is so optimistic, and you just hope that everything will work out in the end,” she said. “If I had known what would happen, I would never have left Argentina.”
Kate explained that they both had their personal lives and often used to travel separately, but she never expected such a tragedy. She also mentioned their shared responsibility, including caring for their dog, and reflected on the shock of losing Liam so suddenly.
Autopsy And Investigation Updates
Liam was in Argentina at the time of his death, just days after Kate had left. An autopsy later revealed the presence of alcohol, cocaine, and antidepressants in his system.
Officials in Argentina are still investigating the situations surrounding Liam’s passing. Till now, five people have been charged, with three facing ‘manslaughter’ charges and two accused of supplying cocaine. Liam’s cause of death was determined as “polytrauma,” indicating multiple injuries.
Kate’s Emotional Holiday Message
During the holiday season, Kate took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message, urging people to be sympathetic.
“As the holidays are here, I realise it is a time for happiness and joy, but it is also a time of sadness and grief for so many. Be gentle with those around you this time of year, as the holidays can feel different for everyone,” she wrote.
Liam Payne’s Funeral And Music Legacy
Liam’s funeral took place in November in Buckinghamshire, attended by his bandmates of One Direction which includes Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson. His ex-partner Cheryl, the mother of his son Bear, and other close family and friends were present there.
After One Direction went on break, Liam pursued a successful career, releasing his first solo album LP1 in December 2019. He has given various hit songs including Polaroid, Strip That Down (ft. Quavo), and For You (ft. Rita Ora).
