Veteran Indian actor and comedian Satish Shah passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 74. His manager, Ramesh, confirmed that Shah, who had recently undergone a kidney transplant, was not keeping well. “He passed away around 2.00 – 02.30 pm today,” Ramesh said. The family is still planning the funeral.
Who was Satish Shah?
Born Satish Ravilal Shah in 1950 or 1951 in Mandvi, Gujarat, he was a graduate of Xavier’s College and later attended the Film and Television Institute of India. Shah was renowned for his versatility and comic timing, appearing in over 250 films and numerous television shows.
Some of his most memorable work includes Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983), Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (1984), Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004), Main Hoon Na (2004), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Fanaa (2006), and Om Shanti Om (2007). On television, he was celebrated for playing 55 different characters in 55 episodes of Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and the iconic Indravadhan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. He also co-judged Comedy Circus in 2008 and served as a member of the Film and Television Institute of India society in 2015.
