He wrote popular tracks such as Diljit’s “Gidha” and “Daka”.
His emotional lines like “Dil ditta nai si thokran lawan vaste” and “Ki samjawan ehna nain kamleyan nu,” made him widely respected. He is survived by his son, who also writes songs.
Nimma’s interest in writing began in 4th grade, inspired by his grandfather’s love for Punjabi stories. He had no formal training but wrote his first well known song, “Nankane Vall Jande Rahiyo,” for a school play in Class 10. Its success encouraged him to pursue music.
In 1994, he moved to Ludhiana to learn music and later spent time in Bharowal, the village of folk singer Didar Sandhu. This helped him polish his skills. During this period, he took on the name Nimma Loharka “Nimma” from his childhood nickname and “Loharka” as a tribute to his village.
