Tamil cinema suffered a huge loss as Manoj Bharathiraja after passed away due to a hearth attack at his residence in Chetpet, Chennai. The actor who was 48 years old, had recently undergone a  bypass surgery and was recovering at his home when he suffered the sudden cardiac arrest on Tuesday evening.

His manager confirmed the heartbreaking news to News18 and revealed, “Manoj recently had a bypass surgery and was recuperating. However, he succumbed to a heart attack at his residence much to the shock of everyone. Bharathiraja Sir is on the way to his residence from Neelankarai. The funeral and other processions are yet to be decided.”

Who Was Manoj Bharathiraja?

The son of the legendary director Bharathiraja, Manoj joined the film industry by making his debut in his father’s directorial film Taj Mahal and soon after his debut, he became a prominent actor and was seen in films like Alli Arjuna, Samudhiram and Varshamellam Vasantham. He also entered direction and had a significant influence in the film industry. Last year he was seen in the Tamil web series Snakes and Ladders which was also his last movie.

Tributes Begin To Pour In

As soon as the news broke out fans and celebrities have been mourning the loss of Manoj Bharathiraj. Khushbu Sundar took to X and wrote “Extremely shocked to hear that Manoj is not among us anymore. His untimely demise pains. He was just 48 yrs. May God give the strength to his father Thiru #Bharathiraaja avl and his family to overcome this unbearable painful loss. You will be missed Manoj. Rest in peace. Om Shanthi.”
