Renowned Jamaican singer Cocoa Tea passed away on March 11 at the the 65, following a cardiac arrest. The news of his demise was confirmed by his wife Malavia Scott. Fans and well wishers from around the world extended their condolences and grief after hearing the heartbreaking news. Moreover, Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness also paid tribute to him on Instagram.
Who Was Cocoa Tea?
Cocoa Tea’s real name was Calvin George Scott and has been prominent name in the Jamacian music industry from the 1980s. He started his career in 1974 when he was only 14 and released his song ‘Searching In The Hills’.
He later took the stage name Cocoa Tea and released his chartbuster songs ‘I Lost My Sonia’ and ‘Rocking Dolly’. His biggest hits include ‘Young Lover’, ‘Children Of The Ghetto’, ‘Rikers Island’, ‘Up Park Camp’ ‘Me No Like Rikers Island’, ‘Moving On’, ‘Bust Outta Hell’, ‘Tune In’, ‘No Threat’, and many more.
