The news of her demise was confirmed by her agent, Laurent Savary, who revealed that the veteran star died in her home in Nemours, France, due to natural causes. Who was Claudia Cardinale?
Claudia was born on April 15, 1938, and raised in La Goulette, a neighbourhood of Tunis, in the French protectorate of Tunisia. In 1957, she won the competition for the ‘Most Beautiful Italian Girl in Tunisia’ and soon started bagging work in the film industry. She started her acting career in 1958 with the movie ‘Goha’. Within a few years, she became well-known in Italy and impressed the audience with her work in ‘Rocco and His Brothers’, ‘Girl with a Suitcase’, ‘Cartouche’, ‘The Leopard’ and ‘8½’.
After gaining success in the Italian film industry, she started getting offers in Hollywood. Claudia worked in popular movies like ‘The Pink Panther’, ‘Blindfold’, ‘Lost Command’, ‘The Professionals’, ‘Don’t Make Waves’, ‘The Hell with Heroes’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in the West’.

Talking about her personal life, Claudia was in a relationship with the Italian film producer Franco Cristaldi, but later parted ways. She started a relationship with Italian film director Pasquale Squitieri in 1975 and was with him till he passed away in 2017.
