Grammy Award-winning musician Brett James died in a plane crash on September 18 at the age of 57.

Grammy Award-winning musician Brett James passed away at the age of 57 in a plane crash. According to reports, he was on board a small plane in Franklin, North California, when it crashed west of Iotla Valley Elementary School in Franklin on Thursday. None of the three on board people survived. His friends, family and fans expressed their condolences after hearing about his sudden demise.

Who was Brett James?

Brett James was a country musician, singer and songwriter. He started his singing career in 1995 and dropped out of medical school. He released his self-titled debut album and singles, “Female Bonding,” “If I Could See Love”, and “Worth the Fall.” In 1997, he released “Wake Up and Smell the Whiskey”.

He is best known for his songs ‘What Child Is This?’ and ‘What a Friend We Have in Jesus’. After a brief hiatus, he returned to singing in the early 2000s and released songs ‘Chasing Amy’ and ‘After All’. Brett James also wrote songs for several artists, including Faith Hill, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean, Jessica Andrews, Martina McBride and Carrie Underwood. He wrote hit songs like ‘Jesus, Take The Wheel’ and ‘Cowboy Casanova’.

By 2008, he started working as a record producer and released ‘We Weren’t Crazy’, Kristy Lee Cook’s ‘Why Wait’. He also worked on a re-release of Taylor Swift’s self-titled debut album, Jessica Simpson’s Do You Know, and Kip Moore’s Up All Night.

Tributes poured in for the late singer as they remembered his work. Justin Adams wrote, “The loss of a legend. Brett was always the kindest soul and was a champion for me early on in my career. You never forget people like that. So sad for his family. Praying for them.”
