Legendary Kannada film and television actor Bank Janardhan has passed away at the age of 75 late last night at a private hospital in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Janardhan was famous for his spectacular comic performances and on-screen presence. According to media reports, he was admitted to Manipal Hospital and was struggling with age-related health issues for a while and his condition eventually deteriorated over the past few days.
Who Was Bank Janardhan?
Born in 1948 in Bengaluru, Bank Janardhan made a name for himself in the Karnataka entertainment industry over his long career in film and television with roles both supporting and lead. Even when he played second-string roles, his acting always stood out because of their plausibility and humour.
His screen name, “Bank Janardhan,” derived from one of his earliest lead roles, which resonated with viewers and remained with him throughout his career.

Bank Janardhan’s acting portfolio is both extensive and varied, with over 500 films under his belt.
