Arvind Singh Mewar, who was the part erstwhile royal family of Mewar, passed away on Sunday at the age of 81. He was reportedly ill for a long time and was receiving treatement at his residence in City Palace in Udaipur. He is survived by wife Vijayraj Kumari, son Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar and his two daughters Bhargavi Kumari Mewar and Padmaja Kumari Parmar. The Udaipur City Palace will remain for tourists on Sunday and Monday and his funeral will take place on March 17.
Who Was Arvind Singh Mewar?
Arvind Singh Mewar was the descendant of Rajput king Maharana Pratap, who is well-known for the Battle of Haldighati and the Battle of Dewair. He was also the chairman of HRH Group of Hotels, which is a chain of hertiage hotels in Rajasthan. He was born in 1944 and is the second son of Bhagwat Singh Mewar and his wife, Shushila Kumari.
He was also known for his crystal collection and antique cars collection. In 1967, he reportedly moved to Chicago for the on-the-job training in hospitality services. After returning to Udaipur, he worked as the personal secretary to his father, the former Maharana Bhagwat Singh Mewar.

According to reports, there were conflicts between the descendants of Bhagwat Singh Mewar, who was his father, due to the property and leadership dispute. After the demise of Bhagwat Singh Mewar in 1984, Mahendra Singh Mewar became the head of erstwhile Kingdom of Mewar. Meanwhile, Arvind received the title of Shri Hazoor and took the position as the chairman of the HRH Group of Hotels.
