Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan, who rose to fame across India with his film ‘Marco’, has been involved in a controversy. According to reports, the actor has been accused of physically and verbally abusing his former manager for allegedly praising another actor Tovino Thomas. The manager, Vipin Kumar, has also filed a police complaint against Unni Mukundan on Monday night at the Infopark Police station.
Who is Unni Mukundan?
Unni Mukundan rose to immense fame after starring in the Malayalam film ‘Marco’, which became a huge success in both OTT and theatres. He made his acting debut in the 2011 Tamil film ‘Seedan’ but got his break through film in 2012 with ‘Mallu Singh’. He starred in several successful films ‘Style’, ‘KL 10 Patthu’, ‘Vikamadithyan’, ‘Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya’ and many more.
His movie ‘Marco’ gave fame across India and reportedly became the highest-grossing A-rated Malayalam movie of all time’. The movie is the stand-alone spin-off of the 2019 Malayalam movie ‘Mikhael’.
The actor has now announced his first directorial film, which will be in the superhero genre. He wrote, “The kid in me grew up believing in legends. Drawn to stories of courage, sacrifice, and magic. I found my heroes not just in books, movies, folk stories, tiny action figures but also in my dreams. Growing up in the era of superheroes, often dismissed as mythical, make-believe, or too far-fetched. I ended up being a thorough day dreamer. For me these SuperHeroes were hope in motion. They made me feel Heroic. Their act of heroism mirrored in my dreams. Yep, I’m directing my first feature film. A superhero story. One that’s my own.”
About the Incident:
In Vipin Kumar’s complaint, he claimed that Unni Mukundan insulted and beat him for allegedly praising the film ‘Narivetta’ on Facebook. The assault allegedly took place inside an apartment in Kakkanad. The Marco actor is yet to react to the controversy and the accusations against him.
