Who Is Srikanth? Tamil-Telugu Actor Arrested After Drug Test Turns Positive

Tamil-Telugu actor Srikanth has been arrested by Chennai Police after testing positive for narcotic use.

Tamil-Telugu actor Srikanth, also known as Sriram, has been arrested by the Chennai Police in a drugs case. The actor was taken into custody after testing positive for drug use and suspicious transactions found on his mobile.

On Monday morning, Srikanth was called for questioning by the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU). During the interrogation, he reportedly admitted the purchase of cocaine around 40 times, costing Rs 12,000 per gram. The investigation further revealed that he spent a total of Rs 4.72 lakh on drug purchases through Google Pay.

His blood test conducted at a government hospital also confirmed the presence of narcotics. He was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The case initially came to light when Prasad, a former AIADMK IT wing member, was arrested after a fight in a pub in Nungambakkam. During interrogation, he named Srikanth as a regular customer. Another person Pradeep also testified that he had seen Srikanth taking drugs in many club parties and said that Prasad used to supply drugs.

Who Is Srikanth?

Srikanth was born in Chennai to a Tamil mother from Kumbakonam and a Telugu father from Chittoor. Although the family originally hails from Tirupati, Srikanth was raised in Hyderabad, where his father worked at the State Bank of India.

He suffered a major setback early in life when his elder brother died of dengue after returning from the US. As another actor Srikanth already existed in the Telugu industry, he adopted the name ‘Sriram’ for his Telugu projects.

he married Vandana, an MBA graduate from Australia in 7 September 2008. The couple now shares a happy family life with their two children.

His career began in 1999 with the TV show Jannal – Marabu Kavithaigal. His first appearance in cinema was in the 2002 Tamil film Roja Kootam, followed by the Telugu film Okariki Okaru in 2003.

He has starred in several films such as Manasellam, Varnjalam, Kanna Kandein, Oru Naal Kanavu, Bambara Kannale, Mercury Pookkal, East Coast Road, Poo, Sathurangam and Nanban. Recently, he has appeared in the Tamil film Konjam Kadhal Konjam Modhal, Telugu film Erracheera and JioCinema’s web series Harikatha.
