Who Is Rita Bhattacharya?
Rita Bhattacharya is Kumar Sanu’s ex-wife, with whom he got married in 1986. Rita and Kumar Sanu separated in 1994 but their divorce was finalised in 2001. They have three sons together. Rita has stayed away from the limelight since the beginning, but she did open up about her alleged troubled relationship with Kumar Sanu in the past. She revealed that the singer has asked for damages of Rs 50 crore, not Rs 30 lakh.
While speaking to Bombay Times, Rita opened up about the defamation lawsuit against her. She said, “I’m shocked. He is filing a case against the mother of his three grown-up sons. The paper he has sent me, he is asking for 50 crores. I don’t know how Sanu is dreaming that I have so much money. It is really sad.”
“I will see him in the court. And I will request Sanu with folded hands — just try to be a good human being and be the father of my three children. If you can’t love us, at least don’t disturb us and don’t harass us anymore,” she added.
In her previous interviews, Rita alleged that Kumar Sanu mistreated her during her pregnancy, even depriving her of food and denying her medical care. The suit also mentions that their divorce agreement stated neither party would make allegations against the other. However, Rita’s recent comments against Sanu are in breach of this contract.
