Veteran Bollywood actress Nafisa Ali has been diagnosed with stage 4 peritoneal and ovarian cancer. She is now inspiring many by showcasing her journey with cancer and is giving courage to people through social media. The 'Life in a Metro' star recently posted a photo of herself with a new bald look, which is due to chemotherapy.
Who is Nafisa Ali?
Born in Kolkata, Nafisa Ali is the daughter of Ahmed Ali and Philomena Torresan. She did her schooling at La Martiniere Calcutta. Talking about her career, she achieved several milestones. From 1972 to 1974, she was the national swimming champion and later tried to change her career to participate in a beauty pageant. In 1976, she won the Eve's Weekly Miss India title and represented India at the Miss International contest. In 1979, she was a jockey at the Calcutta Gymkhana.

Nafisa soon started getting offers from Bollywood and made her debut with the 1979 film 'Junoon'. She starred in popular movies like Kshatriya, Aatank, Major Saab, Bewafaa, Big B, Life in a Metro and Yamla Pagla Deewana. She last appeared in the 2022 film 'Uunchai'.

She also contested the 2004 Lok Sabha elections from South Kolkata. In 2009, she contested the Lok Sabha election from Lucknow on the Samajwadi Party ticket. In November 2009, she joined INC again but again changed the party by joining the All India Trinamool Congress in October 2021.

The veteran star was first diagnosed with stage 3 peritoneal and ovarian cancer in 2018. Even though she recovered in 2019, the cancer returned. She is taking chemotherapy as part of treatment.
