Lee Ahreum, who is the former member of K-pop group T-ara, has reportedly been found guilty of borrowing 37 million KRW from three people, including her fans and some acquaintances in 2023. She has been sentenced to six months in jail and two year of suspension after she failed to repay them. For the unversed, the former K-pop star has been in a controversial figure since past few years and made it to the headlines due to her personal life.
Who is Lee Ahreum?
Ahreum rose to fame after joining the K-pop group T-ara in 2012 and was only 18 at that time. The band became evwn more successful after her joining and she release some singles as well. In 2013, she became the part of T-ara’s sub-unit called ‘T-ara N4’ which also included Eunjung, Hyomin and Jiyeon. After a few months, she left the group to pursue her solo career.
She was away from spotlight for a few years and then made a comeback with the the survival show The Unit. She was again seen in a TV show called ‘Kookmin Singer’ in 2021 and participated in Sing Again 3 in 2023.
About Ahreum’s Previous Controversies:
Talking about her personal life, Ahreum has been surrounded by several controversies. According to reports, she married her non-celebrity businessman boyfriend, Kim Younggeol, in 2019 and has two son with him.
In December 2023, she announced separation from her husband and alleged that her children abused by their father. She also claimed that she also had to suffer abuse in the marriage. In March 2024, she also tried to take her own life while being pregnant. According to reports by South Korean media, she lost the custody of her two children following the suicide attempt.

Even though she was still legally married, her third child is father her boyfriend. She reportedly parted ways with her boyfriend as well after she claimed that he forced her into committing fraud. In October 2024, she announced that she is pregnant with her fourth child with her new boyfriend.
