In 2015, Rekha and Jaya Bachchan surprised everyone by hugging warmly at the Star Screen Awards. They were there when Amitabh Bachchan won Best Actor for ‘Piku.’ As Amitabh went to accept his award, Rekha hugged Jaya, and they watched him together.
Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan worked together in movies like ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar,’ ‘Mr Natwarlal,’ and ‘Ganga Ki Saugandh,’ and they were also in the film ‘Silsila’ with Jaya. Amitabh and Jaya met on the set of ‘Guddi’ in 1971 and married on June 3, 1973. They are still together.
In 2001, during an appearance on Simi Garewal’s ‘Rendezvous,’ Rekha was directly asked if she had ever been in love with Amitabh Bachchan. At the time, the veteran actress dismissed the question as “dumb” and responded cryptically, stating that there is no one in the country who does not love Big B.
Rekha responded by saying that it was a silly question because she hadn’t met anyone who didn’t fall completely, passionately, and hopelessly in love with Amitabh Bachchan. She explained that she, too, felt a profound love for him, adding that her feelings were immense, even more than what one might imagine.
Rekha also praised Jaya in the interview, calling her strong and dignified. She mentioned their past friendship and said that despite the rumors, their bond was real. She emphasized that Jaya remains her “Didibhai” and is always kind when they meet.
