Lights, Camera and Cannes! Yes, the prestigious Cannes Film Festival is now back with it’s 78th edition and it promises a grand celebration of international cinema, fashion and celebrities. It held in the scenic city of Cannes, French Riviera. It serves as a major platform for showcasing international films and some red carpet appearances.

When Is the Cannes Film Festival 2025?
The prestigious 78th Cannes Film Festival will be held from 13th May to 24th May. And in these 12 days, the event will host some grand film screenings, give some glamorous red carpet moments and some important discussions will take place within the global film industry.
Indian Presence On The Cannes Jury
To much surprise and excitement, This time it’s a proud moment for Indian cinema as Payal Kapadia, the director of last year’s Grand Prix-winning film ‘All We Imagine As Light’ is one of the jury members in this festival. Alongside her, the other jury members are:

- Leila Slimani (France)
- Jeremy Strong (USA)

Indian Films To Be Screened
Cannes 2025 will have two special screenings from Indian cinema. The movies that will be screened are, Aranyer Din Ratri (Days and Nights in the Forest), the 1970 cult- classic by Satyajit Ray, will be presented in a restored 4K version. Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, who is featured in the film will be seen attending the screening.
Meanwhile the other Indian feature is Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound that will also be showcased.

The festival will feature more of some high-profile international films, including:
- Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning starring Tom Cruise
- Splitsville with Dakota Johnson
- The History of Sound starring Paul Mescal
- Highest to Lowest by Spike Lee and Denzel Washington
Indian Celebrities To Watch At Cannes
Many renowned Bollywood celebrities are excepted to be seen at the biggest film festival including Alia Bhatt, who is making her Cannes debut this year as the Global Ambassador for L’Oréal Paris. She will join Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who is seen as a Cannes regular star.
Some international stars expected on the red carpet include Scarlett Johansson, Richard Linklater, Ari Aster, Kelly Reichardt, Joachim Trier and Jafar Panahi.
