A fresh development has surfaced in the ongoing legal battle over late businessman Sunjay Kapur’s Rs 30,000 crore property, currently being heard in the Delhi High Court. Newly presented court documents and WhatsApp chats suggest that Sunjay continued to maintain close ties with his children and ex-wife Karisma Kapoor even after their divorce.
According to the petition filed by Karisma’s children Samaira and Kiaan Kapoor, their relationship with their father was strong until his sudden death. The children have submitted WhatsApp conversations between Sunjay and Karisma to the court, indicating that he was not only a supportive father but also remained on cordial terms with his ex-wife.
The chats show that Sunjay was helping Karisma and their children apply for Portuguese citizenship. He even told her that she would have to give up her Indian passport, since India does not allow two passports at the same time.
As reported by News18, these conversations have brought a new twist to the property case, showing that Sunjay was still in touch with Karisma and the kids shortly before his death. The court will now look into these chats and documents as part of the case.
Reason Behind Karisma Kapoor’s Kids Approaching Delhi HC Over Sunjay Kapur’s Property:
According to Bar & Bench, Karisma Kapoor’s kids have alleged that Priya forged Sunjay’s will. Earlier, Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, reportedly claimed that she was made to sign some papers while she was still grieving the sudden death of her son. In a suit filed by Samaira and Kiaan, the will is allegedly illegal. They claimed that their late father’s will was forged and fabricated.
The reports also claim that the defendants in the lawsuit are Priya Kapur, her son, Rani Kapur and the executor of the will Shradha Suri Marwah. In their plea to the court, the children sought action for being wrongfully excluded from their father Sunjay’s will.
