The box office turned into a massive showdown as Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 clashed with Rajinikanth’s Coolie on August 14, 2025. Among the year’s most awaited releases, both films drew huge crowds and raked in impressive numbers, emerging as two of the biggest releases of the year. After a thunderous opening weekend, both films witnessed sharp weekday drops, yet managed to cross the Rs 200 crore mark within their first week. With early estimates from Day 9 now in, the battle for dominance continues as the films head into their second weekend.
War 2 Box Office Collection Day 9:
Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 opened to a thunderous response at the box office. On Day 1, the film collected Rs 52 crore, followed by a bigger Day 2 at Rs 57.85 crore, marking an 11.25% growth. However, collections dropped on Day 3 with Rs 33.25 crore, and continued to dip slightly on Day 4 with Rs 32.65 crore, taking the extended weekend total close to Rs 176 crore. The film saw a major fall on Day 5, earning just Rs 8.75 crore (down 73.20%), but picked up marginally on Day 6 with Rs 9 crore and Rs 5.75 crore on Day 7. Day 8 early estimates stood at Rs 5 crore. This takes the film’s 8-day total to Rs 204.25 crore across all languages. Despite the drop after the first weekend, War 2 has managed to cross the Rs 200 crore mark within its extended first week.
Early estimates suggest the film earned only Rs 4 crore net on Day 9 across all languages, pushing its total collection in India to Rs 208.25 crore.

War 2, a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, hit theatres on August 14, 2025. It brings back Hrithik Roshan as Agent Kabir after a six-year gap. NTR Jr. joins the franchise as Agent Vikram. Anil Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana are also seen in pivotal roles.
Coolie Box Office Collection Day 9:
Rajinikanth’s much hyped film Coolie has delivered a blockbuster opening week at the box office. The movie stormed into theatres on Day 1 with a massive Rs 65 crore opening, led by Tamil Nadu collections of Rs 44.5 crore, while the Hindi version contributed Rs 4.5 crore, Telugu Rs 15.5 crore, and Kannada Rs 0.5 crore. Day 2 saw a dip of 15.77%, earning Rs 54.75 crore, followed by Rs 39.5 crore on Day 3 and Rs 35.25 crore on Day 4, taking the extended weekend total to over Rs 194 crore. The film witnessed the usual Monday drop with Rs 12 crore, and further slipped to Rs 9.5 crore on Day 6, and Rs 7.5 crore on Day 7.
The film added around Rs 6.25 crore on Day 8 (early estimates), pushing its 8-day total to Rs 229.75 crore across all languages. Despite heavy drops post-opening weekend, Coolie has emerged as a massive success, crossing the Rs 200 crore mark in its very first week.
As per early figures from Sacnilk, ‘Coolie’ collected Rs 5.50 crore net on its ninth day across all languages in India, taking its overall domestic total to Rs 235.15 crore.
About Coolie:
The plot will focus on Deva, a former gold smuggler who is now working as a coolie. He seeks to regain his past glory by reviving his old gang with stolen technology hidden in vintage golden watches, leading to unintended consequences.
It also stars Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy and Kaali Venkat. Aamir Khan will be seen in a cameo role. It is produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures.
