‘War 2’ Vs ‘Coolie’ Box Office Collection Day 5: Both Films Witness Steep Decline After Explosive Opening Weekend

The Independence Eve clash between War 2 and Coolie drew huge crowds and set the box office on fire. However, both films witnessed a steep drop in collections after their explosive opening weekend.

This Independence Eve, the box office turned into a massive showdown as Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 clashed with Rajinikanth’s Coolie on August 14, 2025. Among the year’s most awaited releases, both films drew huge crowds and raked in impressive numbers, emerging as two of the biggest releases of the year. However, after a smashing opening weekend, both War 2 and Coolie saw a notable decline in collections as the weekdays began.

War 2 Box Office Collection Day 5:

Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani’s War 2 had a strong start at the box office. On Day 1 (Thursday), the film earned Rs 52 crore, with Hindi contributing Rs 29 crore, Telugu Rs 22.75 crore, and Tamil around Rs 0.25 crore. The momentum continued on Day 2 (Friday), as the film collected Rs 57.35 crore, marking a 10.29% growth compared to its opening day. Hindi dominated with Rs 44.5 crore, followed by Telugu at Rs 12.5 crore, and Tamil at Rs 0.35 crore. The film then saw a weekend dip, collecting Rs 33.25 crore on Day 3 (Saturday), down 42.02%, and Rs 32.15 crore on Day 4 (Sunday), a 3.31% drop.

However, Day 5 (Monday) witnessed a drastic fall, with early estimates reporting only Rs 8.50 crore, highlighting a significant drop in footfall after the weekend. Despite the steep decline, War 2 has accumulated a total of Rs 183.25 crore in its first five days.

About War 2

War 2, a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, hit theatres on August 14, 2025. It brings back Hrithik Roshan as Agent Kabir after a six-year gap. NTR Jr. joins the franchise as Agent Vikram. Anil Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana are also seen in pivotal roles.

Coolie Box Office Collection Day 5:

Rajinikanth’s Coolie opened to a strong response at the box office. On Day 1 (Thursday), the film earned Rs 65 crore, with Tamil contributing Rs 44.5 crore, Hindi Rs 4.5 crore, Telugu Rs 15.5 crore, and Kannada around Rs 0.5 crore. On Day 2 (Friday), the film collected Rs 54.75 crore, showing a 15.77% dip from its opening day, with Tamil at Rs 34.45 crore, Hindi Rs 6.3 crore, Telugu Rs 13.5 crore, and Kannada Rs 0.5 crore and and Day 4 (Sunday) earning Rs 35.25 crore.

However, Monday saw a significant fall, with early estimates reporting Rs 12 crore. In total, Coolie has amassed Rs 206.50 crore in its first five days.

About Coolie:

The plot will focus on Deva, a former gold smuggler who is now working as a coolie. He seeks to regain his past glory by reviving his old gang with stolen technology hidden in vintage golden watches, leading to unintended consequences.

It also stars Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy and Kaali Venkat. Aamir Khan will be seen in a cameo role. It is produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures.
