This Independence Eve, the box office is set for a massive showdown as Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 goes head-to-head with Rajinikanth’s Coolie on August 14, 2025. Both films are among the year’s most awaited releases, carrying huge fan expectations and star power. With advance bookings now open, early numbers are already hinting at a record-breaking holiday weekend. Here’s how the two giants are faring in their Day 1 advance sales across India.
War 2 First Day Advance Booking:
As per Sacnilk.com, War 2 has recorded a strong start in its advance bookings for Day 1 across India, grossing approximately Rs 2.09 crore from 57,609 tickets sold (excluding blocked seats). The Hindi 2D version leads with Rs 1.73 crore from 46,101 tickets, followed by the Tamil 2D version at Rs 5.48 lakh (3,681 tickets) and Telugu 2D at Rs 11.64 lakh (5,162 tickets). Premium formats have also contributed significantly, with Hindi IMAX 2D raking in Rs 15.53 lakh from 2,187 tickets, Hindi 4DX at Rs 2.87 lakh (432 tickets), Hindi ICE at Rs 10,460 (22 tickets), and Hindi Dolby Cinema at Rs 16,200 (24 tickets). With strong buzz and impressive pre-release sales, War 2 is poised for a solid opening at the box office.

War 2, a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, is set to hit the theatres on August 14, 2025. It brings back Hrithik Roshan as Agent Kabir after a six-year gap. NTR Jr. joins the franchise as Agent Vikram. Anil Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana will also be seen in pivotal roles.

Coolie First Day Advance Booking:
Due to the huge fan following of Rajinikanth, many theatres have scheduled early morning shows for ‘Coolie’. In Kerala and Karnataka, shows will begin at 6 AM, and in Tamil Nadu, the shows will start at 9 AM.
As per Sacnilk.com, Coolie has witnessed an impressive start in advance bookings across India for its first day. The film has grossed a total of Rs 14.12 crore (Rs 141,211,312) in advance sales, with the Tamil version leading by a massive margin at Rs 13.80 crore from 6,69,050 tickets across 189 locations. The Hindi version has contributed around Rs 23.05 lakh from 9,040 tickets, while the Telugu version stands at Rs 7.44 lakh from 3,474 tickets. Kannada bookings have brought in approximately Rs 90,270 from 482 tickets. In all, Coolie has sold over 6.82 lakh tickets nationwide ahead of release, setting the stage for a strong box office opening.
About Coolie:
The plot will focus on Deva, a former gold smuggler who is now working as a coolie. He seeks to regain his past glory by reviving his old gang with stolen technology hidden in vintage golden watches, leading to unintended consequences.
It also stars Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy and Kaali Venkat. Aamir Khan will be seen in a cameo role. It is produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures.
