War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, released in theatres earlier this year but didn’t meet expectations like the first film. A sequel to the 2019 hit War with Tiger Shroff, the action movie is now reportedly gearing up for its OTT release.
According to reports, Netflix has bagged the streaming rights for the film, though an official announcement from the makers is awaited. War 2 is expected to arrive on the platform starting October 9, 2025, and will likely be available in multiple languages.
The action film may not have lived up to the massive expectations, but the film has still managed to earn respectable numbers at the global box office. It has collected Rs 364.35 crore worldwide, with Rs 236.55 crore India Net, Rs 282.6 crore India Gross, and Rs 81.75 crore from overseas markets.
While hopes were high, the sequel fell short and now, for the first time since its release, Hrithik has spoken about it. He took to Instagram to share a series of pictures from War 2’s shoot, and wrote a lengthy post. “Playing kabir was so much fun. So relaxed, knew him so well. It was going to be easy. Finally a movie I could do like so many others do, keep it simple, play the actor, do your job and come home. And it was exactly that. I was taken care of so well by my director Ayaan. It was such a pleasure to have his energy on set. Everything seemed so perfect. Like it’s meant to be. A sure shot. No worries, just needed to do my job right. Which Ofcourse I did,” read caption.
Hrithik didn’t talk about the film’s box office or how audiences reacted to his role. Instead, he reflected on his own feelings, admitting that the work felt “too easy.” “But something was lurking behind that presumptuous certainty. A voice that I kept shutting out. This is too easy … I know this too well. And another that said I deserve it, every film doesn’t have to be a torture and trauma and an incessant search for the truth of the moment. Relax,”
