A police complaint has been filed against actor Vijay Deverakonda for making disrespectful comments about tribal people.
According to a report by Telangana Today, a lawyer from Hyderabad named Lal Chauhan filed the complaint. The comments were made by Vijay during the pre-release event of the movie Retro, starring Suriya.
Legal Action Initiated Against Vijay Deverakonda
Lal filed a complaint against Vijay at the SR Nagar police station on Thursday. In his complaint, Lal said that Vijay, during his speech about the Pahalgam terror attack, compared the attacks to old clashes between tribal communities from hundreds of years ago. Tribal groups have also raised concerns about his comments and have condemned them. They believe Vijay’s words disrespected them and have asked for an apology. The police said they will take the necessary action after reviewing the complaint with legal advice.
What did Vijay Deverakonda express regarding the issue?
Vijay gave a strong speech at the Retro event, saying,”The solution to what is happening in Kashmir is also to educate them and ensure they don’t get brainwashed. What will they achieve? Kashmir belongs to India, and Kashmiris are ours.”
He then criticized Pakistan and terrorists, saying, “India doesn’t even need to attack Pakistan because Pakistanis themselves are fed up with their government and will attack them if this continues. Asalu 500 years back tribals kokkutunnatu, veelu buddi lekunda, minimum common sense lekunda chese panulu. (They behave like tribals did 500 years ago, fighting without common sense).”

On April 22, a terrorist attack on tourists in a meadow in Pahalgam, Kashmir, killed 28 people and left many others injured. Since then, many celebrities have spoken out to condemn the attack and ask the government to take strong action against the terrorists. In his speech, Vijay remembered visiting Pahalgam while filming for Kushi two years ago.
