The film ‘Chhava’ starring Vicky Kaushal, is based on the valor and sacrifice of Martha king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and it has received a tremendous response for its performance but amid the success of the film, the descendants of Ganoji and Kanhoji Shirke have objected to it.
According to them, their ancestors have been portrayed as traitors and negative in the film which they believe is a tampering with historical facts because they were the loyal soldiers of the ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Bhushan Shirke, a descendant of Ganoji and Kanhoji clan, had sought clarification from the film director Laxman Uttekar on this and requested him to apologize publicly.
