Veteran Actor Vijay Khare Aka Gabbar Singh Passes Away At 72

Renowned Bhojpuri actor Vijay Khare, fondly known as “Gabbar Singh” of Bhojpuri cinema, passed away at 4 a.m. today, December 15, at Cauvery Hospital, Bangalore. The veteran actor was 72 and had been unwell for some time, leaving his fans and the industry mourning his loss.

Vijay Khare had been battling health issues over the past few days and was under treatment at Cauvery Hospital. While his condition had initially stabilized, a sudden deterioration led to his demise. Fans and fellow actors are heartbroken over the loss of a legend in Bhojpuri cinema.

Vijay Khare’s Career And Achievements

Born in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, Vijay Khare appeared in over 200 Bhojpuri films, earning a stellar reputation for his powerful acting. He rose to fame with iconic films such as Raijzada (1976), Ganga Kinare Mora Gaon (1983), and Hamra Se Biyaah Karba (2003). His contributions to the Bhojpuri film industry were celebrated widely, and his performances remain etched in the hearts of his fans.

In 2019, Vijay Khare was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to Bhojpuri cinema. At the award ceremony, he expressed his hopes for the younger generation’s involvement in revitalizing Bhojpuri films. He also suggested Muzaffarpur’s potential as a film-shooting hub and spoke about the challenges facing Bhojpuri cinema today.

Life Beyond Acting

Apart from acting, Vijay Khare ran the Vijay Khare Academy, an acting school in Mumbai, where he mentored aspiring actors. Despite residing in Mumbai, his connection to his roots in Muzaffarpur remained strong, and he always advocated for the growth of Bhojpuri cinema.
