Veteran actor Deb Mukherjee, the father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji and the father-in-law of known director Ashutosh Gowariker passed away at the age of 83. Deb is known for his roles in films like ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’ and ‘Adhikar’. He had been unwell for the past few months and took his last breath this morning (14 March) due to age-related issues.
A source confirmed the news to Zoom, stating that Deb had been struggling with severe health issues for past some time.

Reportedly, his last rites will be performed today at ‘Pawan Hans Crematorium’ in Juhu, Mumbai at around 4 in the evening.
Many known Bollywood celebrities like, Kajol, Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Tanishaa, Rani Mukerji, Tanuja, Hrithik Roshan, Sidharth Malhotra, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are expected to attend the funeral and pay tribute to the actor.

Deb Mukherjee had a flourished career in Bollywood. He had been featured in blockbuster films like Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool, Abhinetri, Do Aankhen, Baaton Baaton Mein and more. Every role that he has ever played has always left a lasting impact on Indian cinema.

Apart from film industry, Deb Mukherjee was a known figure in the North Bombay Durga Puja celebrations which also holds an active participation from Bollywood stars like Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Rupali Ganguly and more. His contributions to the festival and culture earned him respect from many people.
