Varisu Twitter Review: Netizens call Thalapathy Vijay film Pongal winner

Varisu Twitter Review: Varisu, the latest film by Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay, opened in theatres today, January 11, in time for Pongal. Vijay plays the prodigal son whose return causes a split in the family in the Vamshi Paidipally-directed film, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna in the major role. Netizens began posting their opinions and critiques of the movie as soon as it opened in theatres.

Just a few hours after Varisu opened in Tamil theatres, internet users began posting reviews of the movie. The movie has received praise for both its plot and Thalapathy Vijay’s outstanding performance. Internet users have also compared the movie to Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu, the second Pongal release, and have praised the former as a “Pongal winner.”

Varisu-Thainavu Clash

At the box office, Thunivu by Ajith Kumar and Varisu battled. However, according to trade tracker Sacnilk, Varisuhad made Rs 9.6 crore from advance bookings on the first day across India. Trade insiders claim that the amount has comfortably surpassed Rs 10 crore since then, but they caution that it may not be able to match the impressive Rs 26-crore advance booking for Vijay’s previous film Beast.
