Mammootty’s legendary film Vallyettan, which became one of the superstar’s iconic movies in the early 2000s, is set to make its way to the OTT platform Manorama MAX. After its successful 4K restoration, the remastered version of the action-drama will be available for streaming from February 7, 2025. The announcement was officially made by the platform through their social media channels.

A Glimpse Into Vallyettan’s Plot
Originally released in 2000, Vallyettan tells the gripping story of Arakkal Madhavanunni, played by Mammootty, a self-made businessman and feudal lord. As the head of his family, Madhavanunni faces numerous challenges, especially when his uncle, Arakkal Kuttikrishnan Nair, and his cousin threaten his ancestral home. The film explores Madhavanunni’s fight to protect his heritage, amidst intense family dynamics and conflicts with his younger brothers.

Star-Studded Cast & Crew
Directed by Shaji Kailas, Vallyettan boasts a stellar cast including Shobana, Sai Kumar, NF Varghese, Siddique, Manoj K Jayan, Innocent, Kalabhavan Mani, Bheeman Raghu, and Sukumari in key roles. The script was penned by Ranjith, while the music was composed by Mohan Sitara, with lyrics by the late Gireesh Puthenchery. Rajamani provided the background score. The cinematography was managed by Ravi Varman, and L Bhoominathan handled the editing.
A Remake And Legacy
The movie was remade in Kannada as Jyeshta by director Suresh Krissna, featuring the late Vishnuvardhan in the lead role. Vallyettan remains a landmark film in Malayalam cinema, and its remastered 4K version promises to bring back its cinematic brilliance for fans to enjoy on digital platforms.
Mammootty, after his role in Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, is currently working on his magnum opus project with director Mahesh Narayan, tentatively titled MMMN.
